Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Sirona Period Care Range, and what types of products does it include?

No two periods are the same. Flow levels, pain thresholds, and lifestyles differ from woman to woman, and even month to month. Sirona's period care range is built around that reality, offering a full spectrum of products so you can manage your period entirely on your own terms.

The range covers flow management through menstrual cups, tampons, sanitary pads, period panties, and panty liners; pain and comfort through herbal pain relief patches and more; and hygiene essentials like cup sterilizers, cup wash, disposal bags, and period kits — including a First Period Kit for first-timers.

I’ve always used pads. Do I really need to try anything else?

You don't have to, but you might find something that works better for you. Many women who've switched say the biggest change wasn't the product, it was realising how much discomfort they'd been tolerating.

Our rash-free pads are a solid upgrade to start with. If you want more freedom of movement, fewer frequent changes, or an eco-friendlier option, there's plenty in the range worth exploring, like the Menstrual Cup or Disposable Period Panty.

How do I know which product is right for my flow?

Light flow days call for ultra-thin pads. Regular flow days work well with regular pads, regular-flow tampons, or a small or medium menstrual cup. On heavy-flow days, XL overnight pads, super-plus tampons, or a large menstrual cup give you the most protection — and pairing any of these with a period panty adds a reliable backup layer.

Since most women's flow varies across their cycle, mixing products across different days is completely normal and often the smartest approach.

Menstrual cup vs pads — which is better?

No two periods are the same, so there is no one-size-fits-all answer. However, due to its significant advantages in comfort, cost, and environmental impact, lakhs of women have switched to the Sirona Menstrual Cup as their preferred period product for everyday use and active days alike.

Here's how it compares to pads:

  • Comfort: Pads sit externally and can cause rashes, chafing, and dampness. The Sirona Menstrual Cup is worn internally — once inserted correctly, most users cannot feel it at all.
  • Protection: Pads need changing every 4-6 hours and may leak during physical activity. The Sirona cup offers up to 8 hours of leak-proof protection and stays secure even while swimming or exercising.
  • Cost: A single Sirona Menstrual Cup (₹349) can last up to 5 years, saving you thousands of rupees in pads over time.
  • Eco-friendly: One cup replaces hundreds of disposable pads, significantly reducing your menstrual waste.
  • Odour: Pads expose blood to air, causing odour. The cup collects blood internally in a sealed space, virtually eliminating period odour.

That said, every period and every body is different. The best choice is ultimately the one that works for you.

Menstrual cup vs tampons — what is the difference?

The Sirona Menstrual Cup is a safer, more economical, and more sustainable alternative to tampons for most users.

Both are inserted internally, but they work very differently:

• Collection vs Absorption: Tampons absorb menstrual blood (and natural moisture), which can cause dryness and discomfort. The Sirona Menstrual Cup collects blood without absorbing anything, preserving your natural vaginal moisture.

• Wear time: Tampons should generally be changed every 4-6 hours (never more than 8 hours due to TSS risk). The Sirona cup offers a full 8 hours of protection.

• Cost: A box of tampons lasts one cycle; the Sirona cup lasts up to 5 years.

• Environmental impact: Tampons generate single-use waste. One cup replaces hundreds of tampons.
• Eco-friendly: Considerably less waste and a much smaller carbon footprint.

I get rashes from pads every single month. Is there a way to fix this?

Rashes are almost always caused by conventional pad surfaces, i.e. plastic layers that trap heat and moisture against sensitive skin. Switching to Sirona's rash-free pads, which use a soft breathable cotton top, solves this for most women. If rashes persist even then, going internal (with a cup or tampon) eliminates pad contact. Period panties made from breathable fabric are also a great rash-free alternative for lighter days.

Can I swim or work out during my period without worrying about leaks?

Yes, you can swim or work out during your period without worrying about leaks. Tampons and menstrual cups are both worn internally and stay leakproof. Pads aren't suitable for swimming. For sports and exercise, the cup is especially reliable: it creates a seal, holds more, and you don't need to stop to change it mid-workout.

I want to try a menstrual cup, but I’m nervous about inserting it. Is it really for everyone?

Most nervousness surrounding the menstrual cup is because of unfamiliarity, which fades away after a cycle or two. The cup can't get lost inside, won't affect your body, and is safe for most women, including those with PCOS. The trick is to try it at home first, on a lighter day, so you have time to get comfortable before using it out.

If you want something internal but with less of a learning curve, our applicator tampons are a good bridge — they guide the product into position without needing to use your fingers.

How does the pain relief patch work, and where do I apply it?

The patch is a 100% herbal formulation with menthol and eucalyptus oil that relaxes muscles and delivers cooling relief directly at the site of pain. Peel, stick to your lower abdomen, lower back, or thighs (wherever cramps hit hardest), and it works within minutes for up to 12 hours.

How do I dispose of used period products hygienically?

Always wrap used pads, tampons, or liners before disposing them. Never flush them, as they block drains and damage waterways. Sirona Sanitary Disposal Bags are odour-concealing, leak-proof, and discreet, making clean disposal easy whether you're at home, at work, or travelling.
